GlenWyvis Distillery - A Highland Story of Community & Sustainability

GlenWyvis Distillery stands out in the Scotch world not just for its spirits, but for its remarkable origin story. Founded in 2015 in Dingwall, a tiny village in the Scottish Highlands, it holds the distinction of being the world’s first 100% community-owned distillery, brought to life through one of the largest crowdfunded share offers in UK history with over 3,000 investors from around the globe.

Set beneath the dramatic backdrop of Ben Wyvis, the distillery revived whisky production in Dingwall for the first time in nearly a century, following the closure of the old Ben Wyvis distillery in 1926.  GlenWyvis combines traditional Highland craftsmanship with modern environmental responsibility. It operations are powered entirely by renewable energy sources like wind, hydro, solar, and biomass, and much of the barley used is locally sourced.

Whisky production began in 2018, and GlenWyvis’s inaugural single malt releases have showcased a fragrant, fruity, malty, and spicy character, reflecting long fermentation periods and thoughtful cask selection.  Their range includes limited batch bottlings such as the Highland Legacy Series, where each expression celebrates Highland life and tradition with unique maturation profiles and storytelling labels.

GlenWyvis’s ethos, blending community spirit, sustainability, and quality Highland single malt makes it a compelling story for any Scotch enthusiast and a vibrant addition to the modern Scotch landscape.
