St. Bridget's Kirk Blended Whisky
Share
St. Bridget's Kirk is Hannah Whisky Merchants’ label for its blended scotch whiskies. From the same team behind the single cask, cask strength, Lady of the Glen bottlings, you can trust the St. Bridget’s name delivers the same quality and delicious flavors as their core range.
Named for the old parish church near Hannah Whisky Merchant's headquarters in Dalgety Bay, this whisky is a nod to founder and owner Gregor Hannah's roots. Today, the ruins of the medieval church are maintained by Historic Scotland and free for all to explore.
Under the St. Bridget’s label are several variations of blended whiskies.
First, let’s dive into the unique solera blends. The solera blends are small batch,100% blended malt whisky produced in Hannah Whisky Merchants' distinctive self-constructed three cask solera system. This ingenious solera system is one of only a few solera systems in Scotland. Each time a batch is bottled from the cask at the lower right, more spirit is filled into the ex-fino cask at the top and gradually passes through two ex-oloroso casks at the bottom. No official aging takes place in the solera due to the copper piping connecting the casks, however, each batch will vary due to different influences and variable time spent in each of the casks. To date, four batches of the solera blends have been released, each under 250 bottles, with Batch No. 4 coming in at just 142 bottles.
The second blended whisky under the St. Bridget’s Kirk label is a small batch 35-year blended scotch whisky. This means the youngest whisky in this bottle is 35 years old; there is likely even older whisky! This blend contains both malt and grain whiskies and delivers exceptional value. Only 248 bottles were released world-wide so don’t delay in securing your bottle today. Lots of brands use the term small batch, but in our mind the St. Bridget’s Kirk whiskies truly are small batch.
