Scotch Drinkers Only – Glenlossie 10 Year Old

Single Cask | Ex-Rye Whiskey Octave Finish | Cask Strength

A distinctive single cask Glenlossie selected and bottled exclusively for the Scotch Drinkers Only range. Matured for 10 years before an Ex-Rye Whiskey Octave finish, this Speyside single malt was bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.4% ABV. The small octave cask intensifies the influence of the rye-seasoned oak, introducing vibrant spice, herbal complexity, and layers of vanilla while preserving Glenlossie's elegant fruit-forward spirit.

Why We Bottled It

The Ex-Rye Whiskey Octave adds an intriguing twist to Glenlossie's refined Speyside character. Rather than overwhelming the spirit, the rye-seasoned oak contributes lively spice and herbal notes that weave seamlessly into the distillery's signature orchard fruit and floral elegance. Bottled at full cask strength, this release offers exceptional complexity while remaining remarkably approachable with a splash of water.

About Glenlossie Distillery

Glenlossie - The Delicate Heart of Speyside

The Glenlossie Distillery is a Diageo-owned distillery that, while perhaps not as widely known, is highly regarded for its light and fruity spirit, a key component in Diageo's major blends.

Established in 1876 by John Duff, who previously managed Glendronach, Glenlossie is situated near Elgin in Speyside, surrounded by several other distilleries including Glen Moray, Glen Elgin, Longmorn, BenRiach, Linkwood, and Miltonduff. An interesting point is that in the early 1970s, the Mannochmore distillery was constructed on the same grounds as Glenlossie. This expansion followed the addition of two stills to Glenlossie in 1962, bringing its total to six. Currently, Glenlossie and Mannochmore share both warehouse facilities and staff, with the team reportedly splitting their time between the two distilleries' production.

A notable feature contributing to Glenlossie's delicate character is the purifier pipe. This element, part of the original design by John Duff, redirects heavier alcohol back into the still for further distillation and remains in use today.

Although there are no official distillery bottlings from Glenlossie, it is occasionally featured as a single malt in Diageo’s Flora and Fauna series. This makes independent bottlers' releases of Glenlossie spirit particularly noteworthy, as they are quite rare even in the independent market.
